{"id":2847,"date":"2017-02-10T11:11:14","date_gmt":"2017-02-10T10:11:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/infnimport.sitebysite.it\/2017\/02\/10\/quasi-400-studentesse-alle-prese-con-la-fisica-delle-particelle-2\/"},"modified":"2025-01-12T17:51:05","modified_gmt":"2025-01-12T16:51:05","slug":"quasi-400-studentesse-alle-prese-con-la-fisica-delle-particelle-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/infn.sitebysite.it\/en\/quasi-400-studentesse-alle-prese-con-la-fisica-delle-particelle-2\/","title":{"rendered":"ALMOST 400 FEMALE STUDENTS  ENGAGED IN PARTICLE PHYSICS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-2675\" src=\"https:\/\/infnimport.sitebysite.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/news_masterclass_donne.jpg\" alt=\"news masterclass donne\" width=\"250\" style=\"margin: 5px; float: left;\" \/>During the &#8220;International Day of Women and Girls in Science&#8221;, established by the General Assembly of the United Nations to <br \/>promote and encourage STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) careers, on February the 11th<br \/>INFN organised two master classes, one in Cagliari and the other in Cosenza, and &ldquo;Matin&eacute;e of Science&rdquo; at the Frascati National Laboratories (LNF), with a total involvement of almost 400 high school girls.<br \/>Organised in collaboration with IPPOG (International Particle Physics Group), theMaster Classes in Cagliari and Cosenza saw the girls engaged in the computer analysis of real scientific data, coming from the LHC accelerator at CERN. At the end of the day&#8217;s work, the results obtained were compared to those obtained by other students in various universities abroad, during a video conference <br \/>moderated by CERN. The INFN Frascati National Laboratories, the &ldquo;Matin&eacute;e of Science&rdquo; was, on the other hand, able to rely on the testimony of a number of scientists, who presented to participants the work and results obtained in their respective research activities at INFN.
